Software Engineer I

Planview Incorporated is hiring a Software Engineer I for a hybrid role based in the United States. This position focuses on building software using C#/.NET and SQL, with additional exposure to AWS, agentic LLM development, and modern engineering workflows.

Role Focus

The Software Engineer I role emphasizes practical fundamentals in application development, including Git-based collaboration, testing, and data structures and algorithms. The position also includes opportunities to work with LLM tooling and agentic development, alongside developing production readiness skills such as participating in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Apply object-oriented programming practices in C# (or an equivalent language) as part of day-to-day development.
• Use SQL fundamentals to work with relational databases.
• Contribute to cloud-enabled development with exposure to AWS.
• Support work involving agentic LLM development, such as building agents or using agentic coding tools (for example, Claude Code).
• Participate in engineering practices including code review and automated testing.
• Engage in on-call rotations and learn production operations practices.

Required Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of professional software development experience, or a recent graduate with relevant internship or co-op experience.
• C# proficiency (or a comparable object-oriented language such as Java).
• Basic SQL knowledge and understanding of relational databases.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, with AWS preferred, via coursework, personal projects, or prior experience.
• Exposure to working with LLMs in agentic development, such as building agents or using agentic coding tools (example: Claude Code).
• Familiarity with Git and basic development practices including code review and automated testing.
• Foundational knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and develop production operations knowledge.

Valued Qualifications (Not Required on Day One)

• Experience calling LLM APIs, prompt design, or writing evaluation (evals).
• Experience with Python and the .NET Orleans framework.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, plus CI/CD, Docker, and containerization concepts.
• Interest in Generative AI and experience using AI-powered coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code for learning and productivity.

Compensation

Expected Salary: CAD 75,000 to 100,000 per year.
