Software Engineer, Diags Infra
Job Description
Google’s Diags Infra team is building the diagnostic systems that support both test and production environments. In this Software Engineer role, you will design and deliver the infrastructure that helps describe, qualify, and distribute diagnostics, with a focus on reducing Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) and increasing useful diagnostic and hardware coverage across global fleets.
This work sits at the intersection of large-scale infrastructure and practical diagnostics engineering. You will contribute foundational software primitives and API capabilities, help validate test constraints, and drive automation through coverage-aware recommendations to the repair ecosystem, aiming to reduce the need for operational intervention.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and scale next-generation diagnostic infrastructure for production and manufacturing environments.
- Help minimize MTTR while maximizing useful hardware coverage across global fleets.
- Implement foundational software primitives and API capabilities to model diagnostic capabilities and validate test constraints.
- Engineer diagnostic infrastructure, qualification frameworks, and dynamic distribution systems as part of the Diags Infra team.
- Build systems to describe, qualify, and distribute diagnostics across both test and production environments, including automation via coverage-based recommendations to the repair ecosystem.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems.
- 2 years of experience in programming.
- 2 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- 1 year of experience with distributed computing and large-scale data processing.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience with data center architecture.
- 2 years of experience with tools development.
- 2 years of experience with monitoring systems.
- 2 years of experience coding in Python and C++.
