Software Engineer 3

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support the NMEC DOMEX Technology Platform and the D3P Modernization effort. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining a full-stack, containerized microservices architecture, including production big data pipelines running on Kubernetes with Elasticsearch and Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline built with a microservice architecture on Kubernetes, using Elasticsearch as the backend and Kafka for messaging.
• Enhance and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts and processes to improve delivery and operational reliability.
• Design, develop, and support scalable and redundant infrastructure across both physical and virtualized environments.
• Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments aligned to new feature requirements.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, architecture, development, security, operations, and integration teams to support platform needs.
• Participate in Agile planning and execution activities, including release planning, scrum of scrums, bug triage, design sessions, and related meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI and the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six years of experience in the category field. Three additional years of experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
• Strong proficiency with Linux.
• Hands-on experience working with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating systems at scale.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Development experience with Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, or Java.
• Experience supporting enterprise or production systems.
• Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems, Kubernetes monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, GPU-based Kubernetes, SALT for deployment automation, Helm/Helmfile, and Nexus.

Security Clearance

• Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.

Education and Experience Equivalency

• High School Diploma/GED: 9 years of experience.
• Associate’s Degree: 9 years of experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree: 6 years of experience.
• Master’s Degree: 6 years of experience.
• PhD: 6 years of experience.
