Job Description
ASD is seeking an embedded software engineer to develop real-time, resource-constrained software for flight, space, and ground systems in C++ within RTOS environments. You will collaborate with hardware engineers in a lab setting while delivering robust, mission-critical software. This onsite role in Manhattan Beach, CA offers an hourly rate of $80 to $90 and requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET-accredited program plus at least five years of software development experience. A Top Secret clearance is required for this role.

Responsibilities
- Develop software that operates in resource-constrained target environments with soft and hard real-time requirements for flight, space, and ground systems.
- Implement complex data analysis, data routing, and/or control systems algorithms.
- Familiarize with various processors, memory, and I/O architectures and implement procedural and object-oriented software in C++.
- Work with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or Linux, and their host development environments and tools.
- Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems containing logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers in planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product software.
- Determine overall system and user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop utility programs; ensure software standards are met.
- Experience across the full software life cycle for automated test sets and test systems on aerospace programs.
- Work in a process oriented environment utilizing waterfall, spiral, or agile processes.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable working on large teams with engineers from other disciplines in a lab environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with a minimum of 5+ years of software development experience.
- Experience with object-oriented software design and C++ programming.
- Experience executing in an RTOS environment such as FreeRTOS, RT-Linux, or GH Integrity.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment with rapid development.
- Active Top Secret Clearance.
- C and C++ development skills including Embedded C++ Development and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Experience with VxWorks RTOS and Wind River VxWorks.
