Software Engineer
Job Description
Creeda is seeking a Software Engineer to build and ship product features and customer-facing automations across the stack. The role is end-to-end, with regular customer interaction and periodic travel to customer sites for larger firms.
Role Scope
In this position, you will work from front end to back end to data, improving the platform wherever it needs attention. You will take ownership of problems through completion, including shipping fixes and automations that customers are actively waiting on.
Key Responsibilities
- Build across the stack, from the front end to back end and data, focusing on the areas that need the most improvement.
- Own issues end to end, from problem intake through delivery.
- Ship customer-requested features that are waiting to go live.
- Fix integrations that break operational workflows, including issues that interfere with a bookkeeper's close.
- Improve onboarding performance so firms can move hundreds of locations instead of fifty.
- Travel periodically to sit with accountants, observe real workflows, and build automations on site that are ready for production.
- Create automations based on what bookkeepers describe during the week so implementations can extend to every firm serving that brand.
- Work directly with the customer, write the code, and ship the fix in the same day when issues require rapid turnaround.
Required Qualifications
- Strong backend engineering experience using TypeScript or Python.
- Experience running TypeScript on Node and Next.js for the product, workers, and importers.
- Experience using Python for classifier and ML training on Postgres.
- Real experience working with data not originally created for automation, including PDFs, spreadsheets edited by bookkeepers, vendor exports, and third-party APIs that may conflict.
- Ability to apply rigor to financial data, where approximate correctness is not acceptable.
- Ability to explain how a balance check passing demonstrates arithmetic correctness rather than merely validating an entry.
- Sound engineering judgment, including the ability to review AI coding agent output and precisely identify why generated code is incorrect.
- Experience setting constraints up front so outputs remain reviewable from the start.
- Clear written communication, with orientation documentation for each area of the codebase so both the next engineer and AI coding agents can follow it.
- Willingness to travel periodically once phase two begins, including several multi-day trips per quarter.
