Software Engineer

Apex TK LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency Next Generation Software Office. In this onsite role in Huntsville, AL, you will help accelerate and modernize resilient, secure Missile Defense System software by contributing technical and engineering analysis across development, integration, and delivery for system-of-systems efforts.

The work centers on on-demand and cloud-based capabilities that support system development, integration, and testing, including analysis that helps teams design and validate software used in complex defense environments.

Role Summary

• Support development of on-demand and cloud-based software for system-of-systems development, integration, and testing through technical and engineering analysis.

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance.
• Master’s degree in a STEM field and 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program/project.
• Experience with design, development, and management of software libraries and cloud-based software architectures and requirements.
• Experience supporting software development and delivery using hardware in the loop (HWIL) and cloud-based testing.
• Experience managing and reviewing application programming interfaces (APIs) and interface control documents, including enabling software used in cloud-based and HWIL environments.
• Experience in artificial intelligence development and tooling, including agentic operations.
• Ability to work independently, as a team member, or by leading teams or tasks, applying engineering rigor to resolve engineering or scientific problems.

Desirable Skills

• Cloud and containerization: Practical experience with containerization concepts such as Docker and Kubernetes, including migrating legacy enterprise applications to cloud-native architectures.
• Agile and DevSecOps: Working knowledge of Agile and Lean development principles within a secure DoD DevSecOps framework.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Knowledge or experience using tools like Terraform and Ansible to deploy reproducible, auditable, and secure cloud environments.
• Configuration management and version control: Experience using modern configuration management and platforms such as Git to enforce policy-as-code, baseline management, and compliance configurations.
• Clearance: Top Secret clearance or ability to qualify for one.

Location: Huntsville, AL (onsite). Compensation: USD 120,000 - 160,000 per year.
