Software Engineer
Job Description
Software Engineer role in Irving, TX onsite at 7-Eleven, focused on designing, developing, and maintaining software applications while contributing to architecture and product features.
Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and sustain software applications using Java, Python, or JavaScript, along with frameworks such as Spring Frameworks, React, and Node.js.
- Develop and run unit and integration tests to verify quality, utilizing JUnit and PyTest.
- Participate in code reviews to uphold engineering best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines.
- Contribute to the design and architecture of new features and products, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
- Stay current with new technologies, tools, and best practices, and proactively propose improvements to processes and systems.
- Document technical specifications, system designs, and user guides to support ongoing development and knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers and peers to ensure timely project delivery.
- Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate project status, and resolve technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience in software engineering roles or related positions.
- At least 3 years of experience with Java, MongoDB, Amazon Web Services (Cloud), NewRelic (Observability Platforms), Spring Framework, microservices architecture, Object-Oriented Programming, SQL, and containerization.
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience, a Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in the relevant fields with 1 year of experience in the listed skills may satisfy the requirement.
