Job Description

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer to join its embedded avionics team, delivering safety-critical software for military and surveillance platforms. The role emphasizes DO-178C compliant development, RFIO work, and flight-test integration, with an emphasis on C++ craftsmanship and rigorous certification artifacts. Compensation ranges from USD 79,750 to 174,000 per year, and the position offers flexibility with Seattle, WA as the primary location and remote work options, along with a Deer Valley, AZ site.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded avionics software in C++ with a focus on RFIO interfaces.
  • Execute DO-178C compliant software development, with a preference for DAL A.
  • Create and manage requirements using DOORS to support lifecycle traceability.
  • Support software certification artifacts, including plans, requirements, and traceability documentation.
  • Participate in code reviews, builds, and configuration management activities.
  • Assist with flight-test integration by interpreting aircraft wiring and data flows.
  • Support software testing using Python to validate functionality.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with DO-178C and the embedded software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, build systems, and compiler configurations.
  • Experience with JIRA, Bitbucket, and configuration-management tools.
  • Familiarity with certification and documentation environments.
  • Experience with signal processing, FPGA interfacing (hardware registers), and RFIO.
  • Proficiency in Python.

About the Job

You are a Software Engineer with deep experience in safety-critical avionics software development for military and surveillance platforms. In this role, you will develop embedded avionics software in C++ with an emphasis on RFIO, perform DO-178C compliant development (DAL A preferred), and create and manage requirements in DOORS while supporting software certification artifacts. You will conduct code reviews, builds, and configuration management, and assist with flight-test integration by interpreting aircraft wiring and data flows. Python will be used to support software testing.

Key qualifications include a strong track record with DO-178C and the embedded software lifecycle, proficiency in C/C++, build systems, and compiler configurations, and experience with JIRA, Bitbucket, and general CM tools. Familiarity with certification/documentation environments, signal processing, FPGA interfacing (hardware registers), and RFIO, along with Python experience, is essential. Preference is given to candidates with military avionics or surveillance system exposure and some flight-test experience.
