Job Description
The Software Developer - Reporting and Analytics role supports a Portland, Oregon utility provider in building and maintaining a large reporting environment. This contract position (hybrid) focuses on BI reporting design, development, testing, and troubleshooting across SQL-backed web applications.

- Compensation: USD 65 - 65 per hour
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technical team members and customers to convert internal and external user requirements into functional solutions.
- Handle technical requirements, including design, development, and testing for both fixed and analytic reports.
- Build static and dynamic reports from a three-tier client-server setup consisting of a web server, application server, and SQL database engine architecture.
- Write scripts and adjust Microsoft Visual Studio methodology templates to enable customization of check-in policies, custom reports, and repetitive testing.
- Create and modify reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop.
- Troubleshoot and communicate report interoperability issues in existing web-driven applications where SQL is used for backend data access.
- Develop customer-focused BI analytics solutions.
- Develop presentation layers aligned with customer requirements and applicable best practices.
- Serve as a technical point of contact and oversee schedule segments to ensure milestones are completed on time, escalating issues to the team lead and project manager when required.
- Coordinate issue resolution with the team lead and project manager.
Requirements
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
- License: Valid Driver’s License required
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Information/Computer Technology (or related technical discipline) preferred
- Experience: 3 years of Information Technology experience required with a Bachelor’s degree in a specified degree; 5 years required without a degree or applicable degree
- Demonstrated experience required:
- Power BI Server and Power BI Desktop tool
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 and 2022
- SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and 2022 or later
- SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) 2012, 2016, and 2022
- Scripting, including VB scripting, Java Scripting, and PowerShell
- Report design and information/database design skills
