Software Developer (Information Technology)

DEVAL LLC offers a role focused on designing, building, and maintaining cloud-enabled applications that support FAA programs and National Airspace System modernization. This on-site position in Reston, VA provides the chance to collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions. The role features a competitive salary range of USD 80,000 to 128,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to technical design activities and participate in architecture and design reviews.
• Develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade software applications that support FAA programs.
• Translate system and business requirements into clean, maintainable code.
• Perform peer code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and product stakeholders to fully meet application requirements.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and regression tests to validate functionality and performance.
• Support the integration of applications into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and system integration challenges.
• Contribute to documentation, including technical design artifacts, user guides, and compliance materials.
• Ensure solutions align with federal compliance requirements, security standards, and performance objectives.
• Participate in system verification and validation, readiness reviews, and modernization initiatives.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve development processes, automation, and system efficiency.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 3 years of experience, or Associate’s degree and 7 years of experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years of experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Demonstrated software development experience using modern languages such as Java, Python, C#, or similar.
• Experience designing and developing applications in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and working within microservices architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal compliance frameworks (NIST, RMF, FedRAMP).
• Experience with performance optimization and scalability engineering.
• Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Cloud-related certifications (for example AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate).
