Job Description

Leidos supports DISA’s GSM-O II contract, helping deliver DISN operations, sustainment, maintenance, repair, and defense. This role is primarily remote, with periodic on-site support near Scott AFB, IL or Ft. Meade, MD. You will build automation and observability capabilities for operational environments and help teams integrate security and compliance into modern delivery workflows.

What you’ll do

  • Build automated CI/CD build and deployment pipelines using Jenkins (CloudBees), Artifactory, Kubernetes (OpenShift), Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket.
  • Support deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and updates/upgrades for Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments.
  • Configure applications to integrate network data into an Elastic (ELK) stack hosted in an AWS environment.
  • Align application configuration with DoD security standards, including DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Develop and maintain centralized dashboards and observability solutions to monitor application health, performance, availability, security posture, infrastructure utilization, and cloud spend.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and automation using metrics, logs, and traces to improve incident detection, operational visibility, root cause analysis, and system reliability.
  • Drive cloud and infrastructure cost optimizations through resource utilization analysis, rightsizing, idle resource identification, storage and compute optimization, and FinOps best practices.
  • Manage enterprise certificate lifecycle activities including provisioning, renewal, rotation, expiration monitoring, and automation for secure service delivery.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Cloud, and Application Engineering teams to integrate security controls, compliance monitoring, automation, and operational standards into CI/CD and production environments.
  • Create automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, and/or other applicable tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, and system issues while proactively identifying, reporting, monitoring, and mitigating technical risks.
  • Work in an Agile environment with daily scrums, contributing in a geographically distributed team and communicating with stakeholders to deliver project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 4–8 years of prior relevant experience, or Master’s with 2–6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience developing software in an Agile environment and the ability to quickly learn new technologies on a rapidly growing project.
  • Ability to multi-task, self-assign work, and operate effectively in a geographically distributed, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with distributed version control such as Git and Bitbucket.
  • Experience developing software on a Linux platform.
  • Knowledge of Software Engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Strong communication skills for proactive collaboration, including clearly articulating status and presenting to customers and program leadership.
  • Demonstrated leadership and attention to detail, with strong organization and documentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain an interim DoD Secret security clearance prior to start date.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT level II security certification or higher (example: Security+ CE or CISSP) within 60 days of start date.

Preferred qualifications

  • Full software lifecycle experience (design, development, test, deployment), including deployment to production.
  • Software development experience with Python and Java and SQL, including JSON/REST web services integration and JSON parsing/generation/validation, plus working knowledge of JavaScript.
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying software in a cloud environment (AWS is a plus).
  • Experience building DevOps pipelines with Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible (or equivalents).
  • Experience implementing application deployment pipelines and containerized deployments with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Working knowledge of Git and development workflows in GitHub, Bitbucket, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools, including Bitbucket integrations with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience working remotely with a geographically dispersed team and working as part of an Agile team (formal Agile methodology certification such as SCRUM is a plus).
  • Software analysis and design experience, including researching and selecting API integrations and developing extensions/plugins for existing components.
  • Experience creating software design artifacts, including functional/technical/architectural documentation, test cases, and installation/deployment/configuration documentation.
  • Experience leading code and artifact reviews.
  • Experience deploying software in a DoD environment (DISA experience is a plus), including updating applications and code to meet security scans and security implementation guidelines (for example, STIGs).
  • Currently possess an active DoD Secret clearance or higher, and an active security certification that meets DOD 8570 IAT level II or higher (Security+ CE or CISSP).
