Job Description
Leidos is supporting the Global Solutions Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract at DISA with a DevSecOps-focused Software Developer role. This position centers on building and operating CI/CD pipelines, deploying and maintaining services, and aligning releases with DoD security requirements. The work is primarily remote, with on-site support requiring you to live within commuting distance of Scott AFB, IL or Ft. Meade, MD.
What you will do
- Build automated CI/CD build and deployment pipelines using Jenkins (CloudBees), Artifactory, Bitbucket, and container tooling such as Kubernetes (OpenShift) and Docker, supported by Ansible.
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and updates/upgrades of Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments.
- Configure applications to integrate network data into an Elastic (ELK) stack hosted in an AWS cloud environment.
- Implement application configuration aligned to DoD security standards, including DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Develop and maintain centralized dashboards and observability solutions to track application health, performance, availability, security posture, infrastructure utilization, and cloud spend across environments.
- Set up proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation using metrics, logs, and traces to improve incident detection, operational visibility, root cause analysis, and system reliability.
- Improve cloud and infrastructure cost efficiency through resource utilization analysis, rightsizing, idle resource identification, and storage and compute optimization, using FinOps best practices.
- Manage enterprise certificate lifecycle operations, including provisioning, renewal, rotation, expiration monitoring, and automation to support secure, uninterrupted service delivery.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Cloud, and Application Engineering teams to integrate security controls, compliance monitoring, automation, and operational standards into CI/CD and production environments.
- Work within an Agile team by attending daily scrums and collaborating with a geographically distributed remote team while demonstrating working software.
- Develop automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, and/or other applicable tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, and system issues.
- Independently identify, report, monitor, and mitigate technical risks on an ongoing basis.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 4-8 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree plus 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience developing software in an Agile environment and the ability to learn new technologies quickly on a rapidly growing project.
- Ability to multi-task, self-assign work, and operate effectively in a geographically distributed, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with distributed version control such as Git and Bitbucket.
- Experience developing on a Linux platform.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply software engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
- Strong communication skills for proactive virtual collaboration, including clear status updates and presentations to customers and program leadership.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and attention to detail, with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to obtain an interim DoD Secret security clearance prior to start date.
- Ability to obtain a DOD 8570 IAT level II or higher security certification within 60 days of start date, such as Security+ CE or CISSP.
