Job Description

Leidos is hiring a Software Engineer for an onsite role in Huntsville, AL. In this position, you will support the end-to-end software lifecycle for critical counter UAS and missile defense solutions, working within a Linux-based development environment and alongside multi-disciplinary teams.

The work centers on building and improving software using C++ and Python, with development practices aligned to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Teams coordinate using Jira and Gitlab, while applying established engineering standards such as peer review and unit testing.

What you will do

  • Develop software for use in a Linux environment
  • Build software in a SAFe environment using Jira and Gitlab
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to implement required software functionality
  • Apply software best practices including peer reviewing and unit testing
  • Debug and troubleshoot software in a HWIL (hardware-in-the-loop) setting

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent, plus 4+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years
  • Strong competency in C/C++ and Python
  • Experience across the software lifecycle
  • Experience with software best practices such as peer reviews, automated testing, and document generation
  • Experience collaborating with functional groups including systems engineering, electrical engineering, and test
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (or equivalent)
  • Experience using tools such as Jira and Gitlab (or equivalent)
  • Experience developing within Qt IDE (or equivalent)
  • Experience developing in Linux
  • Familiarity troubleshooting and testing software in an HWIL environment
  • Current residence in Huntsville, AL or willingness to relocate
  • Current Secret clearance or ability to obtain one

Compensation and benefits

Pay Range: USD 87,100 - 157,450 per year.
