Job Description

Leidos is hiring a Senior Software Developer to help build next-generation flight service and air traffic systems for containerized applications in an Agile/SAFe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own software development activities solo and as part of an Agile team, including writing code, testing, debugging, and maintaining source code
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, refactoring, debugging, and test creation
  • Develop solutions for complex problems that span multiple areas or disciplines
  • Participate in Agile scrum ceremonies and other team activities
  • Troubleshoot and support technical issue resolution in lab and operational environments
  • Provide support to system engineering, test engineering, and system owner teams as needed
  • Communicate with internal team members across multiple areas and with client team members; may communicate with external parties

Requirements

  • Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6-10 years of experience; Doctorate may also be considered
  • Java: expert knowledge with substantial hands-on programming experience
  • Front-end/web development: extensive experience with React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Unit testing: extensive experience with Junit and Mockito
  • API and data formats: significant experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and XSD
  • Spring stack: significant experience with Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Boot
  • Operating systems: significant experience with Linux
  • Version control: experience with Git or Subversion
  • Development tools/IDEs: experience with Eclipse, VS Code, or similar
  • Agile process: experience working in Agile Scrum
  • Understand sound software development principles and practices
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Public Trust: ability to obtain SF-85 Public Trust (Tier 2) suitability determination
  • US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex
  • Experience with microservices and cloud-based environments
  • Knowledge of or experience with Python
  • Knowledge of or experience with Ansible playbooks and YAML
  • Knowledge of or experience with Linux shell scripting
  • Knowledge of or experience with MongoDB
  • Knowledge of air traffic control and flight services
