Software Developer

IDR, Inc. is seeking a Software Developer for a hybrid role in New York, NY. This position supports a financial services firm as it migrates from a legacy environment to a modern, cloud-native platform, with work centered on Rust deployed on AWS.

Role Summary

You will help develop and modernize production systems in a regulated financial services context. The work emphasizes cloud-native distributed services, reliable operations, and disciplined engineering practices across the full software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance cloud-native distributed systems on AWS in a production environment.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to design, build, and modernize platforms, including migration initiatives.
• Build scalable, high-performance services with a focus on reliability, security, and operational excellence.
• Contribute across the full lifecycle, from planning to deployment and maintenance.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code practices to ensure high-quality delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend/software engineering experience, including building cloud-native distributed systems on AWS in production environments.
• 2+ years of hands-on Rust experience, or demonstrable production-grade Rust project work, including async/concurrency and performance tuning.
• Strong background in C#/.NET and microservices and service-oriented architectures, including experience migrating or modernizing legacy/.NET platforms.
• Deep knowledge of AWS core services and cloud patterns, including networking/VPC, IAM/security, and compute/containerization, as well as monitoring/logging.
• Proven ability to design and build greenfield platforms in a regulated environment, including new services, data contracts, CI/CD standards, and operational readiness.

Compensation
