Senior Software Engineer

Join a team building and improving fintech software applications and systems. This hybrid role in Foster City, CA combines hands-on engineering with collaboration across stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure solutions. You will work on system design, testing, and operational support, while continuously improving reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance through ongoing training and development.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to interpret requirements for project components and incorporate feedback into future designs or solution fixes.
• Validate assumptions while translating business requirements, and escalate potential design issues to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Contribute to system design and architecture by refining code plans and supporting design documentation.
• Assist with project estimation and escalate risks that may cause delays.
• Develop, implement, and maintain code for products, services, or components using established patterns, guidelines, and best practices.
• Use debugging tools to confirm assumptions and proactively flag issues before they impact production.
• Participate in code reviews to uphold coding standards and handle routine pull requests.
• Create test plans and configure testing procedures to find and resolve defects across multiple features.
• Support on-call rotations by troubleshooting issues and deploying fixes under guidance.
• Leverage and build knowledge of software developer tools to create, debug, and maintain code for components.
• Stay current through training resources to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.

Requirements

• 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD).
• 3+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and/or Python and Angular/React.
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD.
• Experience developing full stack (frontend plus backend) and/or implementing web-based or mobile applications using AI tools.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in technologies/software systems or a directly related field.
• Proven experience in large-scale product development and delivering enterprise-scale web services, including debugging, troubleshooting, code reviews, coding standards, and building developer tools using modern container-based technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional and client-facing teams to design, develop, test, and support scalable technical solutions.
• Compliance experience is a plus.
• Experience with Generative AI (GenAI) including LLM agents, RAG systems, and NLP, plus AI-assisted investigations.

Estimated salary range: $123,000 - $190,900 per year. This estimate may include potential sales incentive payments. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for bonus and equity.

Work hours: Varies based on department needs.

Travel requirements: 5-10% of the time.

Mental/physical requirements: Office setting. Sitting and standing at a desk, communicating in person and by telephone, and frequently using standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.
