Senior Power Platform Developer

Remote Remote $150k - $180k/yr Full time Posted 34m ago

Job Description

The Senior Power Platform Developer role focuses on leading pro-code development and serving as the de facto solution architect across Power Platform projects, overseeing architecture, environment strategy, custom development, integration, and production support.

Responsibilities

  • Owns solution architecture for Power Platform engagements, including environment strategy (development, testing, production), data loss prevention policies, and managed environments, plus ALM governance.
  • Designs Dataverse data models that balance normalization, performance, and long-term maintainability; documents entity relationships and integration architecture.
  • Assesses build-vs-buy and low-code-vs-code tradeoffs, and presents architecture decisions and risk considerations to technical leads and government stakeholders.
  • Defines and enforces coding standards, branching strategies, and solution layering (managed and unmanaged) across the development team and ALM pipelines.
  • Conducts architecture and code reviews; identifies performance bottlenecks such as API throttling, Dataverse query plans, and plugin execution pipelines, then designs remediation.
  • Leads development and maintenance of high-traffic Power Pages portals, Model-driven Apps, and complex Canvas Apps.
  • Designs and implements complex Dataverse plugins, custom workflow activities, and custom APIs/actions in C#.
  • Utilizes C#/.NET and the Power Apps Component Framework to extend platform capabilities beyond native controls.
  • Writes custom scripts using Liquid, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Bootstrap; builds reusable JS libraries and web resources for Model-driven Apps.
  • Develops custom connectors and virtual entities/tables when native connectivity is insufficient.
  • Builds and embeds Power BI reports (DAX/M) for actionable insights, including composite and DirectQuery models against Dataverse.
  • Develops and configures Copilot agents in Copilot Studio, including custom prompt engineering, topic orchestration, and integration with Dataverse/external APIs via plugins and connectors.
  • Designs and builds complex, resilient integrations between Dynamics 365 and other data sources (REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven patterns via webhooks and the Dataverse Event Framework).
  • Leverages Salesforce experience to support data migrations, cross-platform interoperability, and coexistence strategies during transitions.
  • Builds and maintains backend automation using Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, and Azure Functions to integrate Dataverse, SharePoint Online, and external APIs.
  • Designs for resilience with robust error handling, retry logic, idempotency, and monitoring/alerting across integration points.
  • Configures Dataverse schemas, business rules, calculated/rollup fields, and complex security models (including multi-tenant and multi-agency scenarios) to meet strict DoD/GCC compliance standards.
  • Designs row-level and field-level security models that scale across multi-tenant or multi-agency environments.
  • Implements secure external authentication (Azure AD B2C) and custom identity providers for Power Pages.
  • Manages the end-to-end development lifecycle, including solution packaging, environment promotions, and automated deployments via Azure DevOps pipelines, with a preference for YAML-based CI/CD.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Active DoD Clearance is mandatory.
  • Certifications: PL-400 (Microsoft Power Platform Developer) is required; PL-600 (Power Platform Solution Architect) is highly preferred and strongly indicates fit for the architecture scope.
  • Experience: 10+ years of total software development experience, including at least 5+ years specifically in the Power Platform (Power Pages, Dataverse, Power Automate, Power Apps), with demonstrated involvement as or alongside a solution architect on multi-workstream implementations.
  • Technical Foundations: Proven background as a Full-Stack or .NET developer, capable of understanding and reasoning about complex existing codebases in addition to building new solutions.
  • Platform Proficiency: Hands-on experience integrating Dynamics 365, SharePoint Online, and Power Pages, including at least one large-scale, high-traffic portal implementation.
  • Cross-Platform Exposure: Practical experience with Salesforce architecture or development, particularly where interoperability is required.
  • Front-end Skills: Advanced proficiency in Liquid, JavaScript, HTML5, and Bootstrap.
