Job Description

This senior Power Platform developer role serves as the lead pro-code contributor and de facto solution architect for Power Platform initiatives, accountable for end-to-end technical delivery across architecture, development, integration, and production support. Based in Washington, DC, with remote work options, this position emphasizes strong senior engineering and architectural leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the solution architecture for Power Platform projects, defining environment strategies (dev/test/prod), data loss prevention policies, Managed Environments, ALM approaches, and overall application lifecycle governance.
  • Design Dataverse data models that balance normalization, performance, and maintainability; document entity relationships and integration architecture.
  • Assess build-vs-buy and low-code-vs-pro-code tradeoffs, presenting architecture decisions and risk tradeoffs to technical leads and government stakeholders.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards, branching strategies, and solution layering (managed versus unmanaged solutions, ALM pipelines) across the development team.
  • Perform architecture and code reviews; identify performance bottlenecks such as API throttling, Dataverse query plans, and plugin execution pipelines, and design remediation.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of high-traffic Power Pages portals, Model-driven Apps, and complex Canvas Apps.
  • Design and implement advanced Dataverse plugins, custom workflow activities, and custom APIs or actions using C#.
  • Leverage C#/.NET and the Power Apps Component Framework to extend platform capabilities beyond native controls.
  • Develop custom scripts using Liquid, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Bootstrap; create reusable JS libraries and web resources for Model-driven Apps.
  • Build custom connectors and virtual entities/tables where native connectivity falls short.
  • Create and embed Power BI reports, including DAX/M and DirectQuery models against Dataverse for actionable insights.
  • Develop and configure Copilot agents in Copilot Studio, including prompt engineering, topic orchestration, and integration with Dataverse and external APIs via plugins and connectors.
  • Design and implement complex, resilient integrations between Dynamics 365 and other data sources using REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, and the Dataverse Event Framework.
  • Apply Salesforce experience to facilitate data migrations, cross-platform interoperability, and coexistence during transitions.
  • Build and maintain backend automation with Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, and Azure Functions to integrate Dataverse, SharePoint Online, and external APIs.
  • Design for resilience with robust error handling, retry logic, idempotency, and comprehensive monitoring and alerting across integrations.
  • Configure Dataverse schemas, business rules, calculated/rollup fields, and sophisticated security models to meet DoD/GCC compliance requirements.
  • Design scalable row-level and field-level security for multi-tenant or multi-agency environments.
  • Implement secure external authentication using Azure AD B2C and custom identity providers for Power Pages.
  • Manage the end-to-end development lifecycle, including solution packaging, environment promotion, and automated deployments via YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Active DoD Clearance is mandatory.
  • Certifications: PL-400 (Microsoft Power Platform Developer) is required. PL-600 (Power Platform Solution Architect) is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of software development, with at least 5+ years focusing on the Power Platform (Power Pages, Dataverse, Power Automate, Power Apps), including multi-workstream solution architecture experience.
  • Technical Foundations: Proven background as a Full-Stack or .NET developer, with the ability to read and reason about complex existing codebases.
  • Platform Proficiency: Hands-on experience integrating Dynamics 365, SharePoint Online, and Power Pages, including at least one large-scale, high-traffic portal.
  • Cross-Platform Exposure: Practical Salesforce experience for interoperability in cross-platform environments.
