Senior Machine Learning Engineer

OneStudyTeam is building AI products to accelerate clinical trials and support improved patient outcomes. In this remote role, you will design, build, and deploy machine learning and LLM-powered solutions, while strengthening the pipelines and MLOps practices that keep models reliable and up to date.

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will work across disciplines to integrate AI capabilities into OneStudyTeam’s platform, including Care Access products, and help ensure these systems fit into real clinical research workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI-driven products that accelerate clinical trials and improve patient outcomes.
• Develop advanced ML models and LLM-powered agents for use cases including patient recruitment, enrollment forecasting, and study feasibility.
• Support expansion of the AI knowledge base architecture to enable these solutions.
• Use modern cloud tools and MLOps best practices to create robust data pipelines and deploy models at scale.
• Leverage Python (and Clojure), AWS services (Athena, Bedrock, SageMaker, etc.), dbt, Prefect, and CI/CD automation with monitoring to keep models reliable and current.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, designers, engineers, and domain experts to integrate AI capabilities into the platform, including Care Access products.
• Ensure AI solutions seamlessly support and enhance clinical research workflows for end-users.
• Stay current with developments in ML/AI such as LLMs, NLP, and probabilistic modeling, and bring new ideas to the team.
• Experiment with cutting-edge approaches and move promising prototypes into production features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning solutions in production at scale.
• Proven ability to implement end-to-end ML pipelines from data ingestion to model serving for real-world applications used by real people.
• Strong proficiency in Python and its ML ecosystem, including pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow/PyTorch, with clean and efficient coding practices.
• Comfort working with large datasets, writing complex SQL queries, and using modern data processing frameworks.
• Experience with functional programming (e.g. Clojure) is a plus but not required.
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar) and containerization tools such as Docker.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring for model performance and data drift.
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals including model selection, training, evaluation, and feature engineering, plus statistical modeling.
• Familiarity with NLP and large language models is important.
• Ability to break down complex problems and devise effective, efficient ML solutions.
• Ability to balance pragmatic engineering with scientific rigor to deliver accurate, performant, and maintainable production models.

Compensation: USD 140,000 - 190,000 per year
