Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This onsite role in Mountain View, CA offers the chance to contribute to Moveworks NLU and agentic AI capabilities within ServiceNow. You will build and deploy end-to-end, production-grade ML systems for conversational AI, shaping how users interact with our platform.

Responsibilities

• Leverage software engineering, ML, and complex AI system design to deliver durable value to customers.
• Tackle challenging tasks in conversational agents, including cognitive architecture iterations, multimodal and multilingual agents, memory management, and reasoning approaches such as Tree of Thoughts and Graph of Thoughts; fine-tune LLMs for tool use and enterprise reasoning with alignment techniques (RLHF, RLAIF, DPO); agent evaluation; active learning for few-shot classification; abstractive summarization; grounding and verification.
• Advance Moveworks' responsible AI initiatives by expanding infrastructure to ensure equitable model behavior, red-teaming for safe and intended operation, and maintaining data privacy and security in ML.
• Apply ML fundamentals and LLM knowledge to design new algorithms and architectures, validate them with small-scale experiments, and productionize at scale.
• Research and develop innovative, scalable solutions to hard problems.
• Use cutting-edge ML and LLM advances to enhance products and deliver improved user experiences.
• Dedicate time weekly to read, discuss, and potentially implement models from recent ML research and open-source code.

Requirements

• Deliver production-grade, fully unit-tested code with rigorously-evaluated updates to models, prompts, or other tunable system components.
• Ability to solve problems end-to-end with machine learning.
• Strong grasp of model evaluation fundamentals, especially for text generation, text classification, and non-uniform sampling strategies.
• Meticulous attention to data quality for training and evaluation datasets.
• Prepared to start quickly in a Mac development environment, programming in Python and/or Go.
• Knowledge of deep learning architectures and algorithms and leading large language models.
• Desire to work at a startup pace within a mid-sized company with a high degree of ownership.
• Drive to ship product improvements with production-grade code.
• Strong appetite for continuous incremental wins and completing challenging projects rapidly.
• Curiosity about adjacent engineering domains and an ongoing desire to learn and stay at the cutting edge of NLU and AI.
