Senior Java Developer

Fortira Inc is hiring a Senior Java Developer for a contract role based in New York, NY (100% onsite).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade Java applications
• Build scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot
• Create and integrate RESTful APIs for internal and external systems
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with best practices
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of applications
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis
• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Review code, mentor junior developers, and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Work with business analysts, architects, QA, and product owners to deliver high-quality solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7+ years of professional Java development experience
• Strong expertise in Java 8, 11, 17, or newer
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot
• Extensive experience with Spring MVC
• Extensive experience with Spring Security
• Extensive experience with Spring Data JPA
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Strong understanding of OOP and design patterns
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
• Strong SQL development and database optimization skills
• Experience with Git and Maven or Gradle
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ
• Experience with MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB
• Knowledge of Redis or distributed caching solutions
• Familiarity with GraphQL
• Experience implementing OAuth2, JWT, and SAML authentication
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
• Exposure to serverless technologies
