Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

General Dynamics Information Technology is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for an onsite role in Arlington, VA (Crystal City). You will help design, develop, deploy, and sustain software and data capabilities that power analytic web applications and production APIs. What you will do

• Write clean, maintainable, efficient Python code aligned with best practices and coding standards.
• Build and maintain data analytics web applications, dashboards, and user-facing analytics experiences using Streamlit or similar tools.
• Create interactive analytics experiences that help users explore, visualize, filter, and interpret complex datasets.
• Develop backend services, RESTful APIs, and data access layers using Python frameworks such as FastAPI or similar technologies.
• Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and aggregation capabilities to improve accuracy and timeliness of analytics.
• Work with relational databases including Postgres and MySQL, focusing on data integrity, performance, and query design.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical analytics solutions.
• Create reusable software components and data services that support reporting, visualization, workflow automation, and operational analytics.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployments, including Docker-based environments, to enable repeatable builds and reliable releases.
• Use Git for version control to support collaboration and code management.
• Apply engineering best practices to improve scalability, maintainability, testability, and reliability.
• Ensure solutions meet security, quality, and compliance standards, and contribute across the SDLC from concept through testing, deployment, sustainment, and enhancement.

What you bring

• 5+ years of related experience and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven experience writing clean, maintainable, efficient Python.
• Hands-on experience building software for data analytics, reporting, dashboards, or operational data products.
• Front-end experience building interactive analytics apps using Streamlit or similar technologies.
• Working knowledge of web technologies, RESTful APIs, containerization, backend services, and UI development.
• Experience building and maintaining backend solutions using FastAPI or similar Python frameworks.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and MySQL, along with experience writing SQL queries for analytics and application functionality.
• Understanding of data quality, validation, transformation, and basic data modeling concepts.
• Docker experience; Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and repeatable deployment practices.
• Proficiency with Git for version control.
• Hands-on full stack development experience and a solid understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Clearance: Current TS/SCI Clearance with active or ability to obtain CI Polygraph is required.
• Citizenship: Due to US Government Contract Requirements, only US Citizens are eligible.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Work arrangement: Onsite in Crystal City, VA with CONUS travel of up to 60-90 consecutive days annually.
