Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, develop, deploy, and sustain software and data capabilities for defense-related missions. The role focuses on building analytic frontends, production APIs, and data integration services, translating complex data into dependable functionality.

This is an onsite position in Arlington, Virginia, supporting development across the full software development life cycle from concept through sustainment and enhancement. The work includes Python application development, interactive dashboards and user-facing analytics (such as Streamlit), backend services (such as FastAPI), and supporting data layers for analytics delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code following established best practices and coding standards.
• Design, build, and maintain data analytics web applications, dashboards, and user-facing analytics experiences using Streamlit or similar technologies.
• Create interactive data products that let users explore, visualize, filter, and interpret complex datasets.
• Build and integrate backend services, APIs, and data access layers using FastAPI or similar Python frameworks.
• Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and aggregation to help ensure analytics are accurate and timely.
• Work with relational databases including Postgres and MySQL, supporting data integrity, performance, and efficient query design.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical analytics solutions.
• Create reusable software components and data services that support reporting, visualization, workflow automation, and operational analytics.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployments, including Docker-based environments, for repeatable builds and reliable releases.
• Use Git for version control to enable collaboration and effective code management.
• Apply software engineering best practices to improve scalability, maintainability, testability, and reliability of analytics applications.
• Ensure solutions meet required security, quality, and compliance standards.
• Contribute across the full development life cycle, including testing, deployment, sustainment, and ongoing improvements.

Requirements

• Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience writing clean, maintainable, and efficient Python.
• Hands-on experience building software applications for data analytics, reporting, dashboards, or operational data products.
• Front-end experience with Streamlit or similar technologies for interactive analytics applications.
• Working knowledge of web technologies, RESTful APIs, containerization, backend services, and user interface development.
• Experience building and maintaining backend solutions using FastAPI or similar tools.
• Familiarity with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, plus experience writing SQL queries for analytics and application functionality.
• Understanding of data quality, data validation, data transformation, and basic data modeling concepts.
• Experience with Docker; Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and repeatable deployment practices.
• Proficiency implementing and maintaining Git version control.
• Hands-on experience with full stack development and an understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Clearance: Current TS/SCI Clearance with active or ability to obtain CI Polygraph is required.
• Experience: 5+ years of related experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Role requirements: Work is onsite in Crystal City, VA with CONUS travel of up to 60-90 consecutive days annually.
• Citizenship: Due to US Government Contract requirements, only US Citizens are eligible.

Salary range: $123,250 - $166,750 per year. This role is listed as Regular (Req#: RQ228159). Work is onsite in Arlington, Virginia.
