Job Description
Hearst Media Services (MOTOR Information Systems) is building an AWS-based data platform that powers high-impact automotive data products and insights. In this hybrid role based in Troy, MI, you will take on real technical ownership to architect, design, build, and evolve data pipelines and products. The platform work emphasizes scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency, with a team approach to solving complex problems.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will analyze large and complex datasets and translate requirements into robust pipeline systems. You will design, develop, and coordinate the generation of data pipelines, partnering with the team to plan and solve challenging technical problems end to end.

- Design, develop, and coordinate data pipeline generation
- Collaborate with teams to plan and solve complex problems
- Design for and optimize pipelines for performance and cost
What You Bring
- Expert Python & SQL Developer
- Strong AWS experience including Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, Fargate, CloudFormation, and RedShift
- Strong experience with semi-structured data such as XML, CSV, JSON, and Parquet
- Strong automation experience
- Experience with Databricks including Delta Lake, Notebooks, and SQL Analytics
- Experience with Kubernetes including cluster orchestration, container networking, and pod management
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD, including deployment orchestration with Octopus Deploy
- Experience with agentic AI including LangGraph, MCP Servers, and agent frameworks
- Experience with data handling including Pandas/NumPy, Apache Spark, and Ray
- Bachelor’s Degree
Helpful Experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience with LLMs, machine learning & deep learning libraries, AI application frameworks, and vector databases
- Experience with automotive data or the automotive industry
- Experience with Agile or Scrum
