Senior Backend Developer Assistant Vice President
Job Description
Join Citi in Irving, TX onsite as a hands-on Senior Backend Developer (Assistant Vice President) driving the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise backend services and APIs.
Responsibilities
- Act as a hands-on technical contributor for design, architecture, and implementation of critical backend services in an integrated digital experience platform.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Build and evolve core backend components for user authentication, authorization, content routing, and data integration.
- Implement and enforce security controls, including single sign-on (SSO), centralized entitlements, and adherence to cyber defense standards.
- Optimize backend performance using caching strategies, asynchronous processing, and efficient data access patterns.
- Develop solutions to integrate diverse Content Provider applications into the unified platform using HTTPS-based interfaces.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for complex production incidents, leading root cause analysis and resolution for critical backend services.
- Collaborate with product management, front-end teams, architects, and infrastructure teams to deliver end-to-end features from business requirements.
- Assess and manage risk in business decisions with focus on firm reputation, safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets; drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
Requirements
- 3-6 years of extensive backend software development experience, including architecting and contributing to complex, large-scale enterprise platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in a Senior Developer role with a strong record of technical contribution.
- Proficiency in Java and associated backend frameworks.
- Practical understanding of distributed systems, microservices architectures, and RESTful API design.
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM), including SSO protocols such as OAuth2 and OpenID Connect, plus fine-grained authorization.
- Cloud-native experience including containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and Cloud Adoption using GCP and AWS.
- Good knowledge of database technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for ambiguous problem areas.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence technical decisions and collaborate across diverse teams.
- Hands-on experience with additional backend technologies: Unix, Oracle, caching solutions, and any AI adoption.
- Frontend integration knowledge is a plus: ReactJS, Content Security Policy, adopting a corporate design system, and ADA compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
