Senior Application Engineer/Process Automation Developer-Distributed

Navy Federal Credit Union seeks a Senior Application Engineer focused on process automation and distributed systems. This onsite role will implement, maintain, and support distributed intake channels, web services, and an Enterprise orchestration platform, while providing consulting across the organization.

Role Overview

The position includes designing, building, testing, and updating reusable automations and workflow services. Work centers on Micro Focus Operations Orchestration (and related technologies), with responsibilities that span reliability, adoption, and continuous improvement of the orchestration platform.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multiple technology teams to identify and reengineer processes as they onboard to the orchestration platform or migrate to web applications.
• Design and implement highly available automations using orchestration platforms, preferably Open Text Operations Orchestrations, aligned with NFCU standards and dependent on server, storage, database, and network technologies.
• Advance the orchestration platform through evaluation, engineering, and adoption of emerging technologies and industry practices.
• Participate in efforts to automate and orchestrate repeatable administration tasks, improving reliability and reusability over time.
• Support the adoption of web applications and the orchestration platform within the NFCU environment across technology stacks and teams.
• Create thorough technical documentation, including diagrams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Knowledge of object oriented PHP programming.
• Experience in development and testing of web applications.
• Experience with programming and scripting languages, including Python, PHP, Java, PowerShell/PowerCLI, Perl, VBScript, Windows batch scripting, and web services and/or web APIs.
• Experience working with Windows.
• Database administration experience with MySQL, Oracle, DB2, and/or SQL Server.
• Experience performing data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and apply technical information to automation opportunities, including presenting the process in terms the customer can understand.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Solid understanding of ITIL principles, practices, and processes for managing delivery of an enterprise-wide service, including incident management, problem management, change management, configuration management, and availability/continuity management.
• PHP 8+
• Experience with user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments.
• Experience integrating multiple data sources and databases into one system.
• Experience using SQL Query tools.
• Microsoft Active Directory (LDAP technologies).
• Microsoft IIS.
• Current Windows Servers experience and knowledge of managing a clustered environment.
• Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
• Storage technologies including SAN, NAS, replication, and backup.
• Networking technologies including Layer 2/Layer 3 switching and routing, F5, GSLB, and load balancers.
• Working knowledge of Navy Federal business processes and applications.
