Product Developer

fgf brands is seeking a Product Developer to join its R&D team, focusing on the donuts and cakes produced at the Brownsburg, Indiana facilities. This on-site role involves collaboration with internal departments across the business and may involve direct engagement with customers during product development.

Overview

This role works alongside a team of R&D professionals to provide research and development support for the company’s donut and cake plants. While there may be direct customer interaction during development, the primary emphasis is collaboration with internal teams. We are looking for an energetic individual with a strong work ethic and the right DNA to fit the company culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects that cover new product development, renovations, productivity improvements, and business continuity initiatives.
• Lead the commercialization of products and ensure post-launch quality is maintained or improved.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to manage changes to the Bill of Materials, line standards, and formulations through established procedures.
• Learn and apply the company’s innovative Product Lifecycle Management program and utilize other required technical tools.
• Continuously upgrade technical knowledge of the baking industry with emphasis on processes, products, and ingredients.
• Adhere to plant safety policies and communicate any safety issues to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of bakery industry experience is preferred, though experience in other CPG sectors will be considered.
• Bachelor of Science is preferred (Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related), but equivalent bakery industry experience will be considered.
• Experience with commercializing products on new and existing manufacturing lines is desirable.
• Creative, proactive, and collaborative mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of the industry and a company focused on continuous improvement of its products and processes.

Work Environment and Expectations

• Required to work in the laboratory, production floor, and office or desk environments.
• Typically daytime hours, with occasional off-shifts and weekend work as needed.
• Up to 25% travel within North American plants.
