Product Developer

Overview

Location: Brownsburg, IN. This role collaborates with a team of R&D professionals to provide research and development support for the company’s donut and cake plants. The position may involve direct communication with customers during product development, but will primarily work with internal departments. We are seeking an energetic individual with a strong work ethic who fits the company culture and has the right DNA to learn, adapt, and grow within the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage projects involving new product development, renovations, productivity improvements, and business continuity initiatives.
• Lead product commercialization and ensure post launch quality is maintained or improved.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure changes to Bill of Materials, Line Standards, and Formulations, etc., are managed flawlessly through established procedures.
• Learn and adhere to the company’s innovative Product Lifecycle Management program and utilize other required technical tools.
• Ensure the baking industry knowledge stays current with emphasis on processes, products, and ingredients.
• Adhere to plant safety policies and communicate any safety issues to the appropriate personnel.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• 2 – 4 years of experience in the bakery industry, though experience in other CPG sectors will be considered.
• Bachelor of Science preferred (Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related); equivalent bakery industry experience will be considered.
• Experience with commercializing products on new and existing manufacturing lines is desirable.
• Creative, proactive, and collaborative attitude.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
• Flexibility to adapt to changing industry dynamics and a culture focused on continuous improvement of products and processes.
• Energetic enthusiasm and commitment to the mission of becoming the World’s Greatest Baker.

Work Environment and Travel

• Work located in the laboratory, production floor, and office.
• Normal daytime hours with occasional off-shifts and weekend work.
• Up to 25% travel within North American plants.
