Principal Specifications Writer / Developer

OnTarget Communications offers an onsite Principal Specifications Writer / Developer role in Washington, DC with a competitive salary range of USD 110,000 to 160,000 per year. This position supports multiple US offices and centers on preparing, coordinating, and managing detailed project specifications that align with design intent, regulatory requirements, and industry standards across architecture, engineering, and construction.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside architects and engineers to specify suitable building materials, assemblies, and systems
• Develop project specifications and manuals using established master content
• Provide technical input across the design process and during construction
• Assist project teams during construction administration with specification reviews and responses
• Conduct product research, analysis, and comparative evaluations
• Support technical problem solving and detailing as needed
• Contribute to quality control of documentation and specifications

Requirements

• 8 to 15 years of specifications writing experience
• VisiSpecs experience is an advantage
• CSI certification (CDT, CCS, CCCA, CCPR) is a strong advantage
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience) is an advantage
