Principal Software Engineer (Cloud Native)

Versant Media is building cloud-native capabilities and looking for a Principal Software Engineer to drive modernization decisions that impact delivery speed, scalability, and business outcomes. What you’ll do

• Lead modernization initiatives for inherited systems, prioritizing speed, scalability, and business value.
• Assess and implement SaaS and low-code/no-code platforms to accelerate delivery and reduce custom development.
• Partner with business, product, and technology leaders to align solutions with strategic goals.
• Use rapid prototyping, iterative development, and pragmatic decision-making to move quickly while maintaining quality.
• Inspire and mentor engineers, supporting a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.
• Drive alignment across engineering, product, and business teams to ensure shared direction.
• Set the engineering organization’s technical vision, working with engineering leadership to define and implement practices, standards, and long-term direction aligned to strategic objectives.
• Operate with a high bar for quality, providing a high level of customer service and a focus on customer delight.

What you bring

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP, including serverless and event-driven design.
• Strong understanding of SaaS platforms, low-code/no-code, and Gen AI tools.
• Experience leading engineering efforts and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Track record modernizing legacy systems and integrating them with modern platforms.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing systems.

Salary and hiring details

$170,000 - $200,000 per year (bonus eligible). Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location, and may include additional compensation and benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
