Job Description

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Software Engineer focused on embedded cybersecurity to join the Crypto team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, and verify secure embedded software for military communications, including device management, reprogramming, key management, and encryption algorithms, leveraging C++/Rust on embedded Linux platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and integration of advanced embedded cryptographic solutions and communication products, aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Architect secure, multi-threaded embedded software in C++ or Rust to advance software architecture with innovative approaches.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, oversee implementation, and drive test case development, verification testing, and certification processes.
  • Mentor software developers to raise technical proficiency and promote best practices for process improvement.
  • Influence the security and reliability of critical communications systems by taking a proactive role in shaping product direction and future innovations.

Requirements

  • A STEM degree with a minimum of eight years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least five years of related experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance is required prior to start; U.S. citizenship is required since only U.S. citizens are eligible for clearance.
  • Embedded software development and integration experience with C, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience working on complex, multi-threaded product software codebases.
  • Familiarity with standard full lifecycle software development practices and configuration management tools.

Compensation

Salary: USD 107,500 - 204,500 per year

Location and Work Arrangement

Location: Fort Wayne, IN (onsite)

Onsite commitment: Employees in onsite roles will work primarily onsite, including production and maintenance activities essential to product development.
