.NET Mainframe Developer
Job Description
This remote, 12-month contract role centers on integrating distributed applications with the organization’s Core Banking platform. The successful candidate will design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable software across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with Core Banking, testing, middleware, and platform teams. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and a minimum of five years of software development experience are expected.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine sophisticated software components that enable time-sensitive, mission-critical initiatives by integrating distributed applications with the Core Banking platform.
- Act as a senior technical contributor, translating business and platform requirements into secure, scalable, and dependable solutions across the full software development lifecycle.
- Work autonomously with strong technical judgment and initiative.
- Partner with Core Banking, testing, middleware, and platform teams to manage dependencies, control risk, and meet tight delivery schedules.
- Architect, implement, and optimize robust software using a range of modern languages and frameworks to satisfy business needs.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translate them into technical specifications, propose innovative solutions, and ensure timely task completion.
- Produce clean, scalable, and maintainable code in line with industry best practices and internal coding standards.
- Implement data structures and algorithms efficiently to optimize performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Identify and resolve defects and runtime issues in applications.
- Lead and participate in code reviews, offer constructive feedback, and learn from teammates to uphold code quality.
- Take ownership of smaller initiatives and foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders, teammates, and subject matter experts.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of software policies, standards, and procedures.
- Pursue ongoing learning from individuals and teams, supporting growth through collaboration and feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Five to seven years of hands-on software development experience.
- Advanced knowledge of software development principles, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and version control with Git and GitHub.
- Proficiency with Java, XML, OpenAPI, Maven, and ANT, plus a solid understanding of modern frameworks and libraries.
- Strong grasp of web technologies and architectural patterns for scalable solutions.
- Solid problem-solving, analytical, and debugging abilities to tackle complex technical issues efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience using incident tracking, project management, and change control tools.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms applied to high-performance, scalable applications.
- Proven experience developing applications (web, desktop, or mobile) using C#, ASP.NET, and the Microsoft technology stack.
- Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests; able to diagnose and resolve defects.
- Experience integrating data storage solutions such as SQL Server and third-party APIs into application architectures.
- Familiarity with ASP.NET Core, MVC, and the broader .NET ecosystem (.NET 4.x and newer like .NET 6/8+).
- Experience building web services, microservices, RESTful APIs, and applying common design patterns and REST principles.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
