Middleware Integration Developer / Architect
Job Description
The Middleware Integration Developer / Architect will design and guide middleware solutions, orchestrate cloud platform integrations, and shape enterprise architecture. This onsite role in Chicago, IL calls for deep expertise across SOA, BPM/BRMS, and strong collaboration with leadership to drive strategic IT initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assess the current IT environment and industry trends to identify engagement and client service issues.
- Serve as the day-to-day client contact on the project, lead status meetings, and deliver executive-level presentations that drive actions and decisions.
- Communicate technical study conclusions through written reports and presentations using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Visio.
- Demonstrate delivery capabilities including project scoping and sizing, staffing with the right skills, providing subject matter direction, and managing engagement delivery.
- Translate business requirements and non-functional requirements into reference architectures and technology blueprints.
- Identify opportunities for technology standardization, present options, and assess implementation complexities and risks to inform decisions.
- Experience with at least one Cloud Based Platform (Cloud Foundry, Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure).
- Develop systems using MVC or MVVM architectures and maintain a solid understanding of object oriented programming.
- Java development experience with familiarity in shell and PowerShell scripting.
- Guide, design, and assist in implementing Service Oriented Architecture.
- Solid understanding of Business Process Management, Business Rules Management Systems, and Complex Event Processing systems.
- Understand systems infrastructure, load balancing approaches, and fault tolerance strategies.
- Produce application architecture diagrams, interaction diagrams, roadmaps, and blueprints.
- Design and implement APIs with deep knowledge of REST, SOAP, HTTP, and UDP.
- Work with middleware products such as TIBCO, MuleSoft, IBM Message Broker, and related technologies.
- Experience with relational database systems such as MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle.
- Familiarity with design patterns including cloud, integration, and presentation patterns.
- Implement security mechanisms such as OAuth, SAML, Single Sign On, and Mobile Device Management.
- Develop schemas (XSD, JSON, AVRO) and related data structures.
- Experience with source control (GIT, MAVEN, VSS, Team Foundation) and CI/CD practices.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure teams and understand network layers from an architectural perspective.
- Engage in DevOps initiatives including Windows Server Migration.
- Partner with IT leadership and business leadership to shape and guide the IT strategic and improvement agenda.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- A minimum of 12 years of post bachelor work experience at a financial services company or comparable experience delivering technical advisory services as a consultant.
