Mid-Level Java/J2EE developer

CGI is hiring a Mid-Level Java/J2EE Developer for hybrid work based in Fairfax, VA or Lafayette, LA.

Responsibilities

• Deliver full stack development across back end, client side, and UI components
• Design and implement solutions aligned with established frameworks, application development standards, and quality processes
• Assess how changes in functional requirements affect technical design
• Contribute across the application development lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, and support
• Produce well structured, efficient, and maintainable code that complies with existing frameworks and standards
• Troubleshoot development and production issues and support resolution using established procedures and guidelines
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by exploring and recommending alternatives, tools, and technologies

Requirements

• 35 years of experience with the Java/JEE technology stack, including database exposure, server side development, front end development, and CI/CD integration
• Strong Java development skills with hands on experience using Spring and Spring Boot
• Practical experience building modern, responsive front end applications using Angular (or a similar modern JavaScript framework)
• Experience with web MVC frameworks, preferably Spring MVC (Struts experience is a plus)
• Front end experience with JSP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and jQuery, including integration with Angular based front ends when needed
• Working experience with relational databases: Oracle or PostgreSQL strongly preferred (MS SQL Server experience is a plus), including writing SQL queries and basic performance tuning
• Experience with Web Services (SOAP/REST), XML, and JSON
• Familiarity with Java build and dependency management tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle; ANT experience a plus)
• Experience using Software Configuration Management tools (e.g., Git, SVN, ClearCase)
• Experience with application servers (e.g., WebSphere, WebLogic) and/or modern deployment environments
• Exposure to AI assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, IntelliJ AI, or similar) as part of the workflow is a plus
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate within cross functional Agile teams
• Experience writing Section 508 compliant code
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Continuous Integration tools (e.g., Jenkins)
• Exposure to AWS or other cloud environments and DevOps practices

Salary: USD 58,000 - 136,200 per year.
