Mainframe Developer

Remote Mainframe Developer role at IDR Inc. to support state government projects in mainframe environments, focusing on analyzing requirements, designing and implementing mainframe solutions, and delivering across the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret business and technical requirements for mainframe enhancements and development initiatives, aligning solutions with program goals.
• Coordinate solution design activities and assist with overall application architecture planning to ensure scalable, maintainable systems.
• Create, test, debug, and deploy mainframe application code, following established coding standards and quality gates.
• Contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and IT peers, to deliver reliable mainframe solutions.

Requirements

• More than five years of hands-on experience developing and supporting mainframe applications in complex environments.
• Advanced expertise in mainframe architectures and enterprise-level mainframe environments, with strong architectural judgment.
• Previous experience working on state or government projects, bringing regulatory and procurement awareness.
• Deep understanding of mainframe hardware platforms, performance considerations, and system integration points.
• Extensive experience with COBOL and mainframe COBOL rules mining to extract actionable insights and improve rules-based processing.
