Job Description

Ampacimon is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to build and maintain production AI/ML solutions for its grid optimization products. If you enjoy owning models end-to-end, working with real-world sensor and external data, and collaborating with software teams to integrate ML into applications, this role is designed for you. The position is based in Belgium, WI (onsite) and reports to the Lead of Software.

What you will build and improve

You will design, implement, maintain, and optimize domain-specific AI/ML algorithms for production use. Your work will connect sensor data with other relevant sources, including remote sensors, weather providers, and customers’ own data, then drive integration of these algorithms into Ampacimon’s software platforms.

In this role, you will take full ownership of ML models in production. That includes keeping model performance dependable at scale, improving accuracy over time, and automating the training and serving pipelines that power these systems.

How you will collaborate

As part of the software development team, you will contribute to the engineering ecosystem by providing sample algorithms and libraries that support internal development frameworks. You will also provide technical support to both customers and internal departments, helping translate model behavior and outputs into practical use.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize domain-specific AI/ML algorithms using sensor data and additional sources, and integrate them into software platforms.
  • Own ML models in production, improving accuracy, ensuring reliability at scale, and automating training and serving pipelines.
  • Support software development frameworks with sample algorithms and libraries.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal departments.

Requirements

  • MSc in Computer Science or Data Science (equivalent or higher).
  • Hands-on experience building and applying advanced machine learning and statistical methods, including regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, and neural networks.
  • Experience querying databases, working with web services, and using statistical or computing languages.
  • Experience automating ML model variations using automated scripts or CI pipelines.
  • Practical experience with Python and SQL.
  • Proven experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production.
  • Strong experience with time series data processing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English and French.
  • Comfort working in an international environment with remote teams.
  • A genuine appetite for learning new technologies and taking on varied tasks.

Technologies

  • Python
  • SQL
  • CI pipelines

Nice to have

  • Working experience in Java and ONNX models.
  • Experience developing customer-facing applications.
  • Experience with GIS, 3D, or Lidar data.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and energy-sector applications.
  • Experience with unit testing.
