Job Description

Situated on Maryland's Eastern Shore, The Benedictine School seeks a dedicated Job Developer to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities access competitive integrated employment. The role centers on building relationships with local employers, guiding individuals through the placement process, and coordinating supports that promote long-term workplace success. This position collaborates with the Meaningful Day Services team, families, and community partners to drive meaningful employment outcomes and greater independence.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and promote competitive integrated employment opportunities by identifying, nurturing, and maintaining relationships with prospective employers.
  • Engage in employer outreach through networking, workforce development initiatives, job fairs, chambers of commerce, cold calling, and community activities.
  • Educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities and demonstrate the value these workers bring to the team.
  • Guide the Discovery Process to assess strengths, interests, and support needs for effective job placement.
  • Assist individuals with workplace training curricula and employment readiness activities.
  • Develop and implement workplace support plans that encourage natural supports and long-term success.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and ongoing support to both individuals and employers during placement and onboarding.
  • Monitor placements, identify challenges, and collaborate with employers and individuals to implement practical solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including employer contacts, progress notes, outcomes data, and records for DORS, DDA, and agency requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Job Development and Meaningful Day Services teams to coordinate employment opportunities and support services.
  • Conduct follow-up services to evaluate employment outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Represent Benedictine professionally with employers, families, job seekers, and community stakeholders.
  • Attend required trainings and maintain certifications necessary to perform job responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Eligible to obtain ACRE certification and become a Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) within one year of hire.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with adaptability to changing priorities and environments.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet the needs of individuals and employers.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, CJIS/Family Law Article 5-561 background checks, and CPS clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and insurable.
  • Ability to perform Safety-Care physical interventions, with exceptions as approved by the Behavior Department.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Benedictine's mission and values.
