Job Description
System One is hiring a Full Stack Developer to build scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs for the Telecommunications Sector. This onsite role is based in Pittsburgh, PA, with a salary of USD 120,000 per year. If you enjoy designing production-grade services, integrating modern data platforms, and deploying on Microsoft Azure, this role brings together backend engineering, secure API development, and applied AI integration.
What you’ll work on
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI
- Build high-performance, secure, reusable API services that support AI, analytics, and enterprise applications
- Develop integrations with Snowflake and Databricks, and with cloud-based data platforms
- Design and optimize data access layers for structured, semi-structured, and large-scale datasets
- Develop services leveraging Apache Iceberg tables and lakehouse architectures
- Build event-driven and asynchronous backend services where appropriate
- Optimize API performance, scalability, reliability, and security
- Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, Azure AD, or similar enterprise identity providers
- Partner with cloud engineers to deploy applications on Microsoft Azure using modern DevOps practices
- Contribute to architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- 5+ years of hands-on Python development
- Strong production experience building applications with FastAPI
- Strong understanding of REST API design and backend architecture
- Experience with asynchronous programming in Python
- Experience integrating with Snowflake and working with Databricks
- Experience with Apache Iceberg and modern lakehouse architectures
- Experience building applications on Microsoft Azure
- Experience building AI-enabled or GenAI applications
- Experience integrating with large language models such as Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, or Anthropic
- Experience with vector databases and RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation)
- Experience with MLflow or MLOps practices
- Experience writing unit, integration, and automated tests
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database design
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Experience with Azure Functions or Azure App Services
- Experience with Azure API Management
- Experience with Azure Key Vault
- Experience with Azure Event Hubs or Service Bus
- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code
- Familiarity with Spark and PySpark
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures
Key technical areas
Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Iceberg, Microsoft Azure, SQL, OAuth2, JWT, Azure AD, Azure OpenAI, and LangChain (or similar AI frameworks). Additional areas include MLflow and (preferred) Docker and AKS.
