Database Developer Consultant

The Database Developer Consultant will support data warehouse operations and Majesco SQL MI based ETL, focusing on data integration, transformation, and reporting in a hybrid remote/on-site environment in Wakefield, MA on a 3-month contract with potential extension. Salary ranges USD 85,000 to 120,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to design and implement data warehouse architectures and database objects in SQL Server, including stored procedures, to support data warehousing, web applications, BI reporting, and ETL processes.
• Concentrate primarily on data warehouse ETL tasks with Majesco SQL MI as the data source.
• Contribute to all stages of data migration, from design through development and testing.
• Execute standard data integration tasks, perform data analysis, manage transformation loading, and implement error handling between internal and external systems.
• Handle general database activities such as debugging scripts and procedures, participating in code reviews, and tuning and optimization for performance.
• Review business requirements and collaborate with the Tech Lead, Project Manager, and Business Analyst to define database development and reporting scope, updating milestones and timelines as needed.
• Apply data mining, modeling techniques, and analytics to develop and maintain customer segmentation and predictive models that inform business decisions.
• Adopt standard development processes, leveraging Waterfall and Agile methodologies (Wagile).
• Mentor junior developers and provide support for ad-hoc user requests.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Degree in Information Systems or a related field (Math, Engineering, Computer Science), or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum five years of data warehouse and ETL development experience, preferably with MS SQL Server, including T-SQL and stored procedures.
• Experience working with Majesco Policy system backend SQL MI database.
• Experience importing external data sources (from SFTP) into the data warehouse and vice versa.
• P&C insurance experience is required.
• Experience with production support and troubleshooting.
• Data modeling experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Proficiency using version control software such as Bitbucket or GIT.
• A passion for database development and analysis.

• Ability to work effectively on a team with limited supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work From Home Requirements

• A stable internet connection via cable or fiber capable of at least 300 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up; a wired Ethernet connection is preferred for best performance.
• An ergonomic workstation setup that supports two 24-inch displays, a laptop, docking station, keyboard, and mouse at minimum.
• Teleworkers must be reachable during regularly scheduled hours via the company-issued iPhone, Microsoft Teams, email, and other department tools; attend virtual meetings with cameras on when possible; respond promptly to calls and voicemails.
