Job Description

Software Resources, Inc. is hiring a Data Engineer (LFI, Data Governance) for a hybrid role in Phoenix, AZ. This position focuses on building and improving reporting solutions and dashboards, supporting data governance, and ensuring regulatory reporting data meets requirements. You will work with large datasets, validate data quality, collaborate with IT teams, and help guide junior team members.

What you’ll get to do

As a Data Engineer supporting LFI regulatory reporting, you will develop, maintain, and improve reporting tools while ensuring consistency and compliance across projects. You will use SQL to query and analyze data, and leverage visualization platforms to monitor key business performance metrics. In addition to dashboard development, you will identify opportunities to automate processes using available technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

You’ll also perform deep-dive analysis on large, complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies. Findings are expected to translate into data-based recommendations that support operational improvement and strategic decision-making. You will work closely with business units to translate reporting and analytical needs into analytical tasks, and present outcomes to senior management and key stakeholders.

Data governance is central to the role. You will design and implement validation and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and reliability, and collaborate with IT teams to enhance data infrastructure and improve data accessibility. You will help with development of business requirements tied to LFI Regulatory Reporting, including changes required by FRB regulations for a Category III institution. You will also problem solve around requirements, defects, and data validation issues, and run UAT (User Acceptance Testing) to ensure data integrity.

Leadership is part of the job. You will take an active role in developing and assisting junior staff and supporting the team’s delivery of regulatory reporting data for LFI status.

Core responsibilities

  • Use SQL to lead design, build, and maintenance of advanced dashboards and reporting tools aligned to data and reporting standards
  • Apply deep-dive analytics to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and actionable recommendations
  • Translate business questions into analytical tasks and present insights to senior management and stakeholders
  • Implement data validation and quality checks to maintain accuracy and reliability; partner with IT to improve infrastructure and data access
  • Develop business requirements for LFI Regulatory Reporting to incorporate changes required by FRB regulations for a Category III institution
  • Troubleshoot requirements, defects, and data validation issues
  • Conduct UAT to confirm reporting accuracy and data integrity
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff

Skills and qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics & Data Management or a similar field
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with data analysis tools (such as SQL, Excel) and data visualization platforms (such as Power BI, Tableau) with the ability to present insights clearly and actionably
  • Experience with project management and managing multiple priorities and deliverables
  • Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and/or other commercial banking products and services
  • Intermediate knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards, and practices
  • Intermediate communication skills in speaking and writing
