Data Engineer III

Deloitte’s AI & Data team within the Government & Public Services (GPS) practice helps clients design, develop, and operate data and AI platforms, products, insights, and services. In this role, you will focus on building reliable data pipelines and the supporting data models that enable analytics, reporting, and artificial intelligence use cases in cloud and enterprise environments.

As a Data Engineer III, you will design and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines, develop and tune ETL processes across structured and unstructured sources, and support downstream data reliability through quality controls and validation. This position is based in Rosslyn, VA (onsite).

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and artificial intelligence use cases
• Develop and optimize extract, transform, and load processes for structured and unstructured data across multiple source systems
• Implement data models, data quality controls, and validation processes to support accurate and reliable downstream consumption
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into scalable data engineering solutions
• Support deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning of data solutions in cloud and enterprise environments

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance
• 1+ years of Databricks project experience or Databricks Associate Developer certification
• 4+ years building extract, transform, and load pipelines in Databricks
• 4+ years creating and maintaining bronze, silver, and gold tables in Databricks
• 4+ years using PySpark and SQL in a developer-focused role
• Ability to travel 0-25%, on average, based on work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Preferred

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field
• Experience supporting data modernization programs for government or public sector organizations
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark
• Experience with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
• Experience implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment for data engineering solutions
• Experience implementing relational, dimensional, and analytical data modeling

Compensation: USD 124,700 - 207,800 per year.
