Job Description
Deloitte is hiring an experienced Data Engineer-Consultant under its Project Talent Model to help deliver client projects with data pipelines and integrations. The role is based in Morristown, NJ (onsite) and focuses on building and supporting production data capabilities using modern big data tooling, with limited travel on average.
Compensation: USD 95,000 - 112,000 per year. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
What you’ll do
- Partner with Business Analysts to understand requirements.
- Collaborate with the Application Architect to understand the design.
- Build low-level data pipeline specifications in Azure Databricks and Apache Hadoop using Apache Spark.
- Perform unit testing for data pipelines.
- Coordinate with onshore and offshore team members to support integration buildout.
- Support SIT and UAT through ongoing post-production maintenance and monitoring.
- Support pipeline deployment and post-release operational activities.
- Communicate regularly with Engagement Managers (Directors), project team members, and functional and/or technical stakeholders, including escalating items that require additional engagement management attention.
What you bring
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering.
- Technical background in SQL, Azure Databricks, and Apache Spark (and exposure to Apache Hadoop).
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
- Ability to travel 10% on average based on work and client needs.
Preferred qualifications
- Analytical and decision-making capability, including managing multiple projects and prioritizing work into manageable deliverables.
- Ability to operate independently or with minimum supervision.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to deliver technical demonstrations.

Compensation note: The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000 to $112,000.
