Job Description

Lead end-to-end analytics systems and data foundation efforts across Meta’s products, including Instagram, with a focus on architecture, governance, security, and high-quality analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the vision for the data foundation and analytics platform to accelerate development and improvement of cross-platform components across Instagram; define and execute the plan to realize that vision
  • Own data architecture for multiple large-scale initiatives, including evaluating design choices and operational cost-benefit tradeoffs within data systems
  • Develop and contribute to frameworks that improve the effectiveness of logging data; collaborate with data infrastructure teams to triage issues and resolve them
  • Partner cross-functionally with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to understand data requirements and deliver analytics capabilities
  • Define and manage SLAs for data sets within areas of ownership
  • Determine and implement security models aligned to privacy requirements; ensure safeguards are followed; address data quality issues; evolve governance processes within owned areas
  • Design, build, and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations supporting use cases across products and domains
  • Solve complex data integration challenges using optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques; support sourcing from structured and unstructured data sources
  • Help own production processes; optimize complex code using advanced algorithmic concepts
  • Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to make development of data artifacts easier
  • Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities and drive measurable impact
  • Mentor team members through actionable feedback and by giving and receiving that feedback

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years experience in the data warehouse space
  • 10+ years experience with custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance
  • 10+ years experience with object-oriented programming languages
  • 10+ years experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling
  • 10+ years experience authoring SQL statements
  • Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies
  • Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/BA in a technical field, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • Experience working with either MapReduce or an MPP system
  • Experience working autonomously in global teams
  • Experience influencing product decisions with data
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (for example, efficiency gains or quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (for example, risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (for example, prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
