Job Description

Remote, contract software engineering work (10–20 hours/week, asynchronous) over a 2–3 week project window.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deliver clean, well-tested code across multiple projects and technology stacks
  • Debug, refactor, and optimize existing codebases for performance, maintainability, and scalability
  • Contribute to code reviews by sharing constructive technical feedback and applying feedback received
  • Collaborate asynchronously on technical specifications, architecture decisions, and implementation plans
  • Document code, APIs, and technical approaches in a clear and reproducible way

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience in a full-time or equivalent role
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and its ecosystem
  • Ability to independently scope, implement, and deliver software features or fixes
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and system design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience across multiple stack layers such as frontend, backend, APIs, or infrastructure

  • Exposure to cloud platforms and deployment environments (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)
  • Background contributing to open source or building personal software projects independently
