Job Description
KeHE Distributors, LLC is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives and customer needs. This onsite role is based in Naperville, IL and focuses on building secure, scalable applications through modern technologies and agile practices. The position offers a salary range of $78,210 - $114,648 per year.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain software features and services using clean, maintainable, efficient code that follows established engineering standards and design patterns.
- Turn product and business requirements into technical solutions in partnership with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure alignment with product goals and user needs.
- Work within agile delivery processes, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
- Support software quality and reliability by applying testing best practices, integrating changes into CI/CD pipelines, and maintaining stable, scalable application components.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, QA, and engineering peers to deliver cohesive, well-integrated product features.
- Monitor and improve system performance and product usage using logs, analytics, and performance metrics to evaluate releases and guide improvements.
- Continuously strengthen engineering practices by learning new technologies, sharing knowledge, and contributing to improvements in development tools and workflows.
Core skills and qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience with data engineering tools and cloud platforms (including SQL, Python, Spark, and AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworks, with the ability to design maintainable code and apply design patterns and engineering best practices.
- Understanding of data modeling, architecture, and governance best practices.
- Experience with analytics, BI, and visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Familiarity with ML/AI engineering, MLOps, and model deployment practices.
- Expertise in data integration, API design, and event-driven architectures.
- Product mindset with the ability to prioritize by value, outcomes, and customer impact.
- Ability to incorporate analytics, logs, and system metrics into development and validation to improve performance and reliability.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, QA, and engineers, including resolving technical or delivery challenges.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies, adapt to changing priorities, and contribute to team knowledge-sharing and engineering improvements.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred, or similar coding education alternatives to traditional four-year degrees.
