Job Description

ExxonMobil is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Data Solutions group within the Development Strategy Team in Spring, Texas. This onsite role focuses on designing and operating data pipelines, analytics, automation, and data management to support sustainable products and platforms, collaborating with cross-functional partners to turn data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and institute automated workflows utilizing Python, GIS, SQL, Spotfire, Alteryx, MS Power Platform and more to minimize human error, standardize data, and apply data management best practices with a focus on data integrity and governance
  • Develop and optimize existing and new expansion of the systems in place
  • Design, develop, test, document, deploy, monitor, and support data pipelines
  • Design and develop analytical dashboards using BI tools such as Spotfire and Databricks, as well as web-based frameworks including Shiny and React
  • Work with domain experts, data scientists, engineers to understand needs, constraints, and limitations
  • Develop ETL processes and maintain application integrations across multiple systems and data sources
  • Prepare technical data for interpretation, conduct analyses and routine computer processing of the data, and help create final displays of the results often for formal presentations
  • Willingness to learn, experiment, try new things, fail, and grow

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Geoscience, Analytics
  • Must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products
  • Driven by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing company’s data architecture to support the next generation of products and data initiatives
  • Functional in SQL with experience in querying relational databases, views, and normalized schemas
  • Functional in programming (Python-preferred) with skills in algorithms, clean code, environment management
  • Understanding and utilization of enterprise ETL tools; ex: Alteryx, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement / automation and development of existing workflows and processes
  • Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
  • Knowledge of Angular, Javascript, C#, Java programming languages
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies: Azure database, AWS, GCP
  • Expertise in Databricks and Snowflake
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable big data stores
  • Oil & Gas industry experience
