Job Description

The Data Engineer will design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms to support mission driven projects, with a focus on data governance, quality, and integration across diverse sources.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders across functions to capture business needs and convert them into actionable technical designs.
  • Develop and enforce data governance practices to maintain data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Design, build, install, test, and maintain scalable data management systems aligned with business requirements and industry standards.
  • Utilize multiple languages and tools to integrate disparate systems and identify opportunities to source data from external sources.
  • Analyze data from diverse source systems to support data integration and reporting requirements.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements, automate manual tasks, optimize data delivery, and redesign infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Develop and refine database schemas and data models to support analytics and reporting.
  • Create data tooling to assist analytics and data science teams in building and refining data products.
  • Develop communication and technical skills by combining consulting expertise with big data to deliver data centric solutions across the testing and evaluation sector.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to propose strategic enhancements.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience designing, building, and operating production ETL or ELT pipelines.
  • Two or more years of experience with relational DBMS, including data modeling and schema design.
  • Two or more years of experience using Python for data processing and automation.
  • At least one year of experience with cloud services.
  • Experience integrating data from RESTful APIs and external data sources.
  • Experience developing and deploying containerized workloads using Docker.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and CI/CD for data workloads.
  • Experience implementing or contributing to logging, monitoring, alerting, and data validation for production pipelines.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice If You Have

  • Two plus years of experience with PostgreSQL
  • One plus year of experience with AWS
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms, preferably Kubernetes
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK
  • Experience with PySpark or distributed data processing frameworks
  • Experience with data quality frameworks or automated testing for data pipelines
  • Knowledge of security and access controls for cloud-based data systems

Compensation

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including location, the individual’s education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.

Work Model

Remote: Occasional in person work at Booz Allen or customer facilities may be required.
