Job Description

Nationwide is hiring a Technology Lead/Senior Software Engineer to support the Integration Governance Team within Technology Integration Platforms in a hybrid role based in Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices across the delivery lifecycle to protect data and technology solutions from threats and vulnerabilities
  • Mentor and train team members on design approaches, tools, and coding standards
  • Provide strategic technical guidance to align technology use with business and technology goals/strategy
  • Drive cross-team collaboration and execution for projects across multiple teams
  • Analyze solutions and develop, test, debug, document, and deploy moderately complex software using established standards and best practices
  • Lead adoption of DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques to improve software quality, security, automation, and delivery efficiency
  • Manage multiple medium to large project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively

Requirements

  • Experience delivering software using Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to document and share knowledge
  • Technology depth in designing, building, and supporting APIs and Event Streams
  • Full stack development experience
  • Java / Springboot and Angular experience
  • Microservices and REST APIs experience
  • Experience with Apigee, Kong, or Amazon API Gateway
  • Hands-on experience building applications that interact with Kafka
  • Cloud Native application experience in AWS or Azure
  • Docker container architecture managed by Kubernetes
  • CI/CD pipeline enablement experience
  • Hands-on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle
  • Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus

Experience

  • Six or more years of programming, software engineering, or systems analysis experience
  • Three years of project management experience is preferred

Education

  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or related field are strongly preferred

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to a Technology Manager/Director

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid to normal office environment
  • Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends

Compensation

  • National salary range: $118,000.00-$222,000.00 per year
  • Expected starting salary range: $118,000.00-$178,000.00

Overtime Eligibility

  • Not Eligible (Exempt)
