Calypso Principal of Software Engineer

SSI is looking for a Calypso Principal Software Engineer to steer the design and delivery of software solutions for the banking industry, with a fully remote work arrangement. This role partners with engineering teams and architecture leadership to pursue innovative initiatives while applying Agile practices across projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate within an organization transitioning to Agile, following established best practices and collaborating closely with teammates.
• Contribute to solution design discussions, balancing product success with adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
• Design, modify, develop, and implement software solutions.
• Build modern, architecturally sound components, tools and applications to support strategic business goals.
• Incorporate quality attributes such as scalability, manageability and maintainability into distributed service-based frameworks to enable new capabilities.
• Apply industry best practices to identify, remediate, and prevent vulnerabilities throughout the software development life cycle.
• Act as a peer leader, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability while following Agile practices.

Requirements

• At least seven years of directly related experience supporting Nasdaq Calypso platforms and infrastructure.
• A proven ability to lead and mentor software engineers.
• Extensive experience configuring, implementing and testing OTC derivatives products across the trading lifecycle, including front, middle and back-office processing.
• Hands-on experience configuring and extending Calypso modules for interest rates, commodities, FX, FX options and equity derivatives.
• Strong understanding of collateral management, general ledger accounting, ISDA SIMM and SWIFT processing.
• Hands-on integration experience between Calypso and market utilities such as DTCC SDR, FedWire, Bloomberg, AcadiaSoft, TriResolve, along with market data sources and risk platforms.
• Experience developing or supporting applications using WebSphere, Java, Spring Boot, MQ, ETL and API development.
• Experience on UNIX, Oracle SQL, PostgreSQL or Linux platforms.
• Proficiency across multiple programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, HTML, Python, Angular and Unix shell scripting.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket, Nexus, Jenkins, Terraform or equivalents).
• Cloud certification such as AWS Solutions Architect.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Apache, Lucene, Memcache, RabbitMQ and NoSQL technologies.

Your role as a Calypso Principal Software Engineer is to collaborate with engineering teams and architectural leadership to deliver high-quality technology solutions. You will have autonomy to lead, design, and develop innovative approaches to address some of the banking industry’s most complex technical challenges. As a principal, you will act as a peer leader driving cutting-edge initiatives and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards. The breadth of SSI operations supports a diverse mix of projects as the bank pivots toward innovation and enhanced customer experiences.
