Associate Data Engineer
Job Description
Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking an Associate Data Engineer to support the company’s Business Intelligence Center of Excellence for the Recycling & Refining organization. In this onsite role in Fairless Hills, PA, you will help deliver data pipelines, datasets, and technical solutions that support analytics, reporting, and data products.
You will work across ingestion, transformation, monitoring, and data quality, using SQL and Python to build reliable data assets. The position also includes building dashboards and supporting reporting and analytics requirements, along with maintaining documentation and operational runbooks.
What You’ll Do
- Support building and maintaining data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Develop clean, reliable, and well-modeled datasets aligned with business requirements.
- Use SQL and Python to develop, maintain, and optimize data solutions.
- Monitor scheduled pipelines, troubleshoot failures, and support data incident resolution.
- Implement data quality checks to improve accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
- Create dashboards and support reporting and analytics requirements.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual and repetitive business processes.
- Support integrations using REST APIs, JSON, and structured data sources.
- Maintain data lineage, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Use version control and established development practices to manage code changes.
- Support data governance, security, access controls, and production quality standards.
- Contribute to evolving data architecture and engineering best practices.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of data analytics experience.
- Proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of Python.
- Understanding of data modeling and ETL/ELT concepts.
- Experience with Power BI or a similar visualization platform.
- Experience with business process automation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- 1–2 years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with data orchestration and Git-based version control.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON.
- Exposure to cloud data warehouse or Lakehouse environments.
- Familiarity with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
- Experience with Docker or similar containerization technologies.
- Relevant Azure or data management certifications.
Additional Information
- This role is part of the Business Intelligence Center of Excellence being implemented across Sibanye-Stillwater’s Recycling & Refining organization.
- Access to systems, data, or areas subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and NAID requirements may be required.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable pre-employment requirements.
Location: Fairless Hills, PA (onsite)
Salary: USD 80,000 per yearly
Experience: 5 years minimum
