Application Developer Senior

The Senior Application Developer role focuses on delivering robust application solutions through advanced design, configuration, development, and testing, with the ability to work independently on mission-critical features while providing technical guidance to teammates.

Stafford, VA (onsite)

Responsibilities

• Lead the end to end design, coding, and testing for modules or multiple features and enablers.
• Analyze user requirements and establish the technical scope and assumptions during backlog grooming sessions.
• Develop requirements definitions, designs, and technical specifications for sprint planning activities.
• Produce business and or technical designs for new or modified application features or enablers.
• Configure systems in alignment with approved specifications.
• Assess and remediate configuration and application issues.
• Support customers in developing test plans and test cases to ensure validation aligns with requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less senior development staff as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master's degree with 10 or more years of experience required
• Alternatively, 6 or more years of experience may substitute for the degree
• At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with software application design, development, and testing
• At least 5 years of experience with the Appian BPM Platform
• Background check is required
• U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise application development efforts
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum based development environments
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other developers

• Strong knowledge of application development life cycle methodologies
• Expertise in Appian application configuration, debugging, and optimization
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams
